  1. Information technology act was amended in the year 2008 due to some of the reasons being unseen in the information technology act 2000 and the same need to be amended.
  2. In the information technology act 2008 a new controversial section got added which is also known as section 66A, section 69A,.
  3. As per section 66A of the amended information technology act power has been given to the relevant authority for arresting anyone who has posted offensive posts on social media. This means that a person who has been considered to be convicted if he has been proven on the charges of posting or sending anything which is menious of character or sending any information which is grossly offensive. 
  4. Section 69A of the amended information technology act gives power to the government to ban or block any internet site which is not good for the nation. 
  5. The above mentioned section of the amended act also gives power to the government to authorize, monitor the information of any website if it is in the good of the nation for its integrity, sovereignty and so on.
